There are two types of air systems for paintball guns. One is CO2 and the other is compressed nitrogen. CO2 air tanks are inexpensive but have several performance issues at high altitudes and during unfavorable weather conditions. Compressed air tanks on the other hand can deliver reliable performance and cleaner air but they are more expensive.
Compressed air tanks that are worth considering include Guerilla Air Myth, Ninja Paintball, Worr Games, Smart Parts, Pure Energy, and Crossfire tanks. For CO2 air tanks, some of the best brands are Smart Parts, JT CO2 tanks, and PMI tanks.
When buying an air tank, make sure that it is compatible with you paintball gun. There are guns that only accept CO2 tanks while some brands are HPA-specific. It is also best to choose a lightweight tank to ensure gun stability. Tanks made from carbon fiber or fiber glass are best.
For extended play, it is ideal to use a 20-oz CO2 that can fire up to 1000 shots or you may opt for a nitrogen air tank with 6000psi that can deliver up to 700 shots.
