Hi, My name is Pat Komar. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and have been playing paintball for two months, according to my wife I am a paintball junkie. How can this happen in only two months? A question I ask myself everyday. Obviously its not a very long story, our 14 year old son wanted to start playing paintball and had begun asking for a new paintball marker and gear. So my wife and I did some research and some shopping around. We searched the Internet to get as much information on paintball, what it was, how it worked and what he would need. Pretty soon we felt confident enough to go and make some marker purchases for us both. I bought a Spyder Imagine for me and a Tippman 98 custom for the boy. We also purchased two 20 oz. CO2 tanksand masks for each of us. Mission completed…
The very next night we went and played our first couple of games at a local indoor paintball field. I really got marked out quick, but soon after every game I began to improve and stay in the game longer and longer. Then finally it happened I was in the right place at the right time, and bang I was able to light up two guys one right after the other. Boy that was all it took I am hooked at this point. Next thing we knew I even had our youngest son playing with us and well on his way to the infamous paintball junkie title.
I have since then bought a Mini Mag, Spyder Compact and a Sheridan PGP. Then some where along the line we picked up a used Spyder in need of some help. So once again I hit the internet and found many good and informative web sites for gun repair and maintenance. The next thing you know I go from replacing O- Rings and fully polishing all internal parts. That was just the beginning.
I just recently did a full rebuild for the mini mag, lots and lots more time on the web and the field too. I also made some changes for my Imagine which included a 12 inch barrel, a bottom line regulator, a bolt and beaver tail and then the evil smoke stack..
So as you can plainly tell things have drastically changed at our house in just two short months. Now all the boys do is eat live and sleep paintball not to mention dream paintball too ( and I mean literally)! Ironically the youngest boy even sleeps with his marker and the first and last thing out of his mouth on a daily basis is “When and where are we going on our next paintball outing”? And then it always follows with do we have enough paint? Enough CO2? and when are we leaving??? Currently the Tippman is tore down awaiting its new and improved paint job and YES my wife is feeling pretty neglected, left out and somewhat disturbed at all this paintball extravaganza we have fallen into. I just calmly tell her no problem Friday nights are all yours sweetie. Well I mean they are all yours right after we pick up some more paint and get all our CO2 tanks refilled for tomorrows fun. She just looks at me annoyed, shaking her head as I continue with my online internet discussion on how I am going to modify my new PGPs bolt for smoother cocking.
This my paintball buddies is my ongoing story on how my family went from perfectly normal ( well maybe not perfectly normal) to extreme paintball junkies , and how yours can too! So please stay tuned for more of my tales from the paintball fields to the living room at home. Until then play safe, have fun and remember ducking a frying pan is much harder than you can imagine ( I otta know my wife can get a pan going a good 300 FPS)!!!
Take Care, Pat
