Choosing a Paintball Marker

There are different types of paintball guns. Your choice will depend on how you play the game. If you are a gunner, you will require a gun that can fire at incredible speeds and could carry loads of ammo. The heavy gunner type normally has electro-pneumatic firing trigger, mid-size barrel, and electronic loader.

If you like the position of sniper, then you need to have a paintball gun with 16-20-inch barrel. Choose a gun with a solid buttstock for stability and a scope to improve accuracy. Sniper guns normally have gravity-fed loaders and sear trippers firing systems.

Pump action manual cocking guns are best for beginners who want to improve their accuracy and gun-handling skills. These types of guns are inexpensive and best for practice games.

There are dozens of brands available in the market. The Piranha GTI, US Army Alpha, and Spyder Sonix of Kingman are good models for beginners.

For mid-range guns suitable for wood and speedball courses, the CCI Phantom, Invert Mini, US Army Black Tactical, Smart Parts, and the Kingman Spyder Pilot are models worth considering. High end tournament guns include Tippmann A-5, Angel 1, and Dangerous Power Fusion.

When buying your first paintball gun, you have to consider upgradeability so you can customize the unit. You must also check if the gun is compatible with CO2 or HPA air sources. Most importantly, check the available replacement parts because your gun will surely need one during its lifetime.
