Paintball loaders and hoppers are the ammo belts of paintball guns. Hoppers play a crucial role because they store the ammunitions and feed them into the chamber. The type of hopper or loader influences the rate of fire and reliability of your paintball gun.

There are numerous brands of paintball hoppers. Some brands that are worth considering include Empire Reloader, Halo B, Viewloader, eVLution, and Ricochet.
There are four main categories of hoppers. Choosing which one is the best for you depends on your personal preference, game style, and game position.
The first type is the force-feed hopper. It is ideal for tournament and professional players because the loader can offer superior speed. Force-feed loaders are mechanical driven with spring or belt loading mechanism.
Agitating hoppers are also ideal for tournament plays because of the faster rate of loading that they can offer. These loaders have propellers that control the rate of fire. They work similar to force-feed hoppers. However, agitating systems are prone to malfunction especially if subjected to extreme environments.
Gravity-fed loaders are the traditional varieties of hoppers. They are inexpensive and can load 8 balls per second. Reliability is the main issue with gravity-fed hoppers because they often jam the gun especially during intense firing.
The last type is stick-feed loader. This type of hopper is ideal for pump action paintball guns. The loader tube can hold up to 24 paintballs. You simply rock the gun forward in order to load the paintballs. It is best to buy horizontal stick-feed hopper for more reliable loading.
