Ever been ambushed while reloading? Saying to yourself "Shoot. If only I had a
few rounds in my gun..."! The PT Extreme (PTX) is the solution to that
problem. The PTX is a semi-automatic sidearm that comes in either black
aluminum or silver. It's the best-priced milled/machined aluminum pistol on
the market. It has a 10 round, spring-loaded feeder (removable) that sits
above the barrel. The gun uses a 12g quick release CO2 system, but it also
has provisions for the addition of a bottom line adapter.
Features:
The PTX has an array of interesting features that make the gun
very user friendly. The 10 round clip has a power feed plug which,
depending upon what position it is in, allows paint to move into the chamber
or prevents it. The clip is spring-loaded and keeps paint moving into the
chamber, no matter what angle the gun is at. (I have yet to try upside down)
It has a finger molded .45 grip which is very comfortable and the gun has
a nice weight balance. The gun also came with a quick strip ball pin. When
you pull the pin, the guts of the gun slides right out.
Performance:
I pulled the gun out of the box, lubricated it, and slapped
in a 12g tank. As soon as the tank went in, it vented the entire tank in
about one second. Needless to say I was disappointed. From that point on,
I honestly didn't expect much from the PTX. I called the 32 Degrees
warehouse and they sent me not one, but three new valves. At that point, I
was afraid. Why three valves? Do they expect more problems? I installed a
new one after a lot of confusion, but once I figured out how the grip came
off, the valve installed very easily. I walk outside with the gun in the holster, paint in the clip and the bolt cocked back. I slid a 12g tank into the gun and it started hissing a very
little bit. "Uh-oh." I popped off one round and listened to the gun,
expecting the hiss to be worse. Sure enough, it sealed itself right up. I
shot 37 more rounds out of the gun before the tank ran out. The accuracy at
20 yards was surprisingly excellent. The gun isn't particularly loud, in
fact, it's louder without being loaded with CO2 than with CO2.
Overall review:
The PTX is of a simple and sound design with quality
parts. The customer service offered is superb. It's quick, it's nimble, and it's darned
accurate. I give the gun about a 4.5 out of 5 rating. It's a beautiful
piece of work and is of a good quality. It's not going to handle a lot of
dirt and grime, but it's a sidearm, not a gun you go blazing into battle
with. It's a good gun. I like it, and I'm going to keep it.
Spread the knowledge.
