A Pump Players World, by Loren Smith

You walk onto the field with your adrenaline already rushing. You look at all of the 2,000 dollar markers that are capable of slinging massive amounts of paint. You then look at your inexpensive pump that holds 8 rounds and has a 30 shot tank. The semis laugh and point as they look at your small, pathetic pump and how you will worship them when they rescue you from the hands of your opponent. Boy are they wrong.

You walk to the other end of your favorite speedball course where the other members of your team are arguing who goes to what side but you smile under your mask and quietly stand in front of everyone else. The ref yells the dramatic count down and blows that annoying whistle and you’re off.

Paint whizzes by your head as the semis shoot as fast as they possibly can. You slide into your first bunker confident that the semis would slide right by your side, but you were wrong. They were bunched on the left tape 2 to a bunker. You poke your head out and pop it back in right when a guy to your 2 o'clock fires his whole hopper on your bunker. You giggle as the paint hits your bunker and think if only he knew what was coming. You hold your gun up, shoot, and come back in one easy motion. You stop to listen to the beautiful sound HIT! and smile. This is almost too easy. You pop in and out again and move as fast as lightening to your next bunker about nine feet in front of you. Almost like that, your bunker lights up like a christmas tree with various colors of paint from the other team who saw you at the last second. You take out your next opponent with two shots and move.

GAMEOVER, the ref yells as you slide gracefully to your next bunker. You look around and see that only two guys got taken out on your team. The remaining semis ask "where were you the whole time, we were hold off the whole team!" You point to the two players with one mark on each lense of their goggles. The semis walk away and you stay on the field waiting for the next game.
